Segway Navimow i105N Reviews & Comparison 2024
The new Navimow i105N robotic mower from Segway can handle lawn areas up to 1/8 ac (500 m²) and stands out primarily for its competitive price within its class. Since March, the second series of models from Segway has been available, showcasing advanced obstacle detection using visual data processed by trained artificial intelligence.
While its cutting system adheres to the standard, it lacks electric adjustment capability, being adjustable only manually. The battery is user-replaceable and powers the mower for an hour before automatically returning to the charging station.
This model does not include a rain sensor; however, the Navimow i105N receives weather data via Wi-Fi to adjust its mowing operation accordingly. To protect against unauthorized access, the robotic mower is secured with a PIN. Additional theft protection is only available with the optional Navimow Access+ module, which equips the mower with 4G cellular connectivity. Control is facilitated through an app or display, as with most models. In addition to the optional 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are already built-in.
Who is the Navimow i105N suitable for?
The Navimow i105N is primarily suitable for owners of small to medium-sized gardens up to a maximum of 1/8 ac (500 m²). For optimal operation, it’s recommended not to exceed the maximum area coverage. For areas of close to 1/8 ac (500 m²), it’s advisable to consider the larger i110N model. Otherwise, the Navimow i105N can easily handle multiple mowing areas, and boundary zones can also be defined.
Adjusting the initially set mowing boundaries is also possible after the fact. During initial setup, users are assisted by an AI assistant in mapping the lawn area. While it doesn’t work flawlessly in all areas, it’s successful in most cases. The AI autonomously recognizes the lawn boundaries and adjusts them according to the user’s input during initial setup.
A dedicated function for edge mowing has also been incorporated, offering two options for trimming lawn edges. One mode mows as close to the edge as possible, while the “RideOn” mode may slightly overrun the edge, if possible at that spot, to avoid leaving a visible edge. Segway also offers an automatic scheduling feature through its app, allowing users to plan mowing operations in advance. Different mowing times and cycles for various areas are easily adjustable through the app.
How does navigation and obstacle detection work?
Once again, Segway relies on RTK technology for precise navigation on the lawn in the new Navimow series. Nowadays, most wireless robotic mowers utilize this technology. Additionally, the aforementioned AI camera with a 140° field of view ensures that the Navimow i105N can continue its work even in weak signal conditions.
No additional sensors for obstacle detection or a bumper have been incorporated into this model – it relies solely on the camera. In practice, this works flawlessly. Many videos and tests attest to the camera’s very precise and reliable obstacle detection.
Conclusion: RTK Lawn Mower at a Great Price
The Navimow i105N impresses with its competitive price in the RTK robot mower class. At the current time, there is no comparable model in this price range (as of 03/24/24). Although its area coverage is relatively low in comparison, it mows this area very reliably and leaves a neat cutting pattern. With an IP66 protection rating, cleaning with a garden hose is safe. Segway offers an extended warranty of 3 years for the mower and 2 years for the battery and power supply.
